Happy New Year and welcome to our January edition of the monthly training and resources bulletin from the Diocese of Lincoln and the College of St Hugh. Do take some time to have a look at the upcoming opportunities on offer.
Epiphany is a season that reminds us that God is calling the whole world to the fullness of life. We can be filled with hope knowing that new starts are possible in the light of Christ. I hope that 2026 will be for you a year of living in his light! The Church, which is Christ’s body, is called to reflect the light of Christ, through a colourful palette of vocations and ministries, confident in using our spiritual gifts. In 2026, we’ll be inviting you to come to a series of events that explore a range of vocational pathways for lay and ordained ministries. We’re pleased to say that we’ve had a really good response to the first one, where we will hear more about Reader Ministry, a licensed lay ministry found in each diocese of the Church of England. Details of other upcoming ‘palette of vocations’ days will be announced soon.

A Palette of Vocations – Reader Ministry Morning
Our first in a series of ‘Exploring Vocations’ mornings will be on Reader Ministry, Saturday January 10th from 9.30am until 12.30pm, at Edward King House.
As the Bishop of Grimsby, Jean will have particular care and responsibility for the north of the diocese. She will also take a lead on mission and evangelism for the whole diocese. As the chair of the Diocesan Board of Education, she will work with schools and colleges to see young people in the area develop and thrive.
Read clearly and expressively, varying your pace and volume to help convey the meaning. Allow plenty of time between phrases and sentences. Most people go too fast, so be careful not the rush.
