In all our ministry with Children, Youth and Families, ensuring our teams, our practices and our environments are safe is key. Here are links to training, resources and support to help.
Thirtyone:eight offers a book bundle to support safeguarding leadership. The books included are:
“Safeguarding as Mission” is a Grove booklet exploring Jesus’ example and how it can deepen our appreciation of the importance and practice of good safeguarding.
“Just Leadership” by Justin Humphreys and Simon Barrington explores what it is to be a just leaders and create a safe and open environment.
“Escaping the Maze of Spiritual Abuse” by Lisa Oakley and Justin Humphreys describes the nature of spiritual abuse, and the best ways of countering it, and considers how we prevent spiritual abuse in the first place.

Commissioned by The National Safeguarding team, “Empowering Children” are free resources seeking to ensure children and young people are aware of who within the church they can speak to about their concerns, and that they know the church cares about their safety and wellbeing.
With lesson plans, icebreakers and Biblical activities for both primary and secondary ages, topics include:

“Raise Your Roar!”
Talking with children about safeguarding issues can feel daunting. Where do you start? Join Roarry and his Ranger Club as they explore what safe looks and feels like and learn to “raise their roar!”
From thirtyoneeight, these resources are designed to equip and empower primary aged children to speak up about their concerns.
Created for faith based settings and to support children’s workers to be confident as they address issues of emotions, harm and abuse.

Safeguarding Questions
It’s vital that children and young people know that the Church cares about them and keeping them safe.
We have created a list of questions that can help you facilitate a discussion with your groups about their understanding of the Church’s care as well giving them the opportunity to share what they would like to know more about and how we can help them.
Shore
“Shore” is an online space for young people who are worried about their, or others, sexual behaviour. They offer anonymous advice and support to help manage worrying thoughts and learn more about living safely both online and offline.
There’s a site for parents / carers, too.
