Bishop’s Study Day for Clergy & Readers

Join clergy and readers from across the Diocese listening to both local and national speakers providing insight and wisdom on the significance of our shared life – the purpose of preaching in our churches.

The planned event will be held at Edward King House and offers 4 presentations from guest speakers, (local and national), to provide insight and wisdom on this significant area of our shared life – the purpose of preaching in our churches.

The Speakers…

Our Speakers will be Rt Revd Jean Burgess, Bishop of Grimsby, Canon Dr Hugh Jones, Warden of the College of St Hugh, Clare Lindsay, a Reader and former Warden of Lay Ministry here in Lincoln, and The Reverend Kate Mitchell, most recently, Assistant Curate Bottesford, Ashby, and Riddings. This day will be open to those who preach across the diocese however, there are only 40 spaces available.

Outline of the day

9.15am – 9.45am – Arrivals and Refreshments

9.45am – Welcome and Introductions

10.00am – Session 1 – The Proclamation of the Gospel

11.15am – Session 2 – The Edification of the Faithful

12.45pm – Lunch (Please bring your own packed lunch)

1.30pm – Session 3 – The Exposition of Holy Scripture

3.00pm – Session 4 – The Drama of the Liturgy
