A Welcome Audit
This short checklist will help you look at your church building and current practice to highlight simple ways to improve your welcome
By completing this Open and Welcome Audit, you will be able to think about what you already do to welcome those who visit your church, be they local, a visitor, a tourist or a pilgrim. You will also be able to identify what you could change to make your welcome even better.
Guiding you through sections on before you arrive, outside, inside, spiritual guidance, communication and welcome around services, you will be able to make simple changes to improve. This simple to use resource is for anyone who cares for the church building and what happens in and around it. This includes PCC’s, churchwardens, fabric teams and welcome teams.
Most visitors will check online first before visiting in person. Does all your online presence have an intentional welcome and is it up to date? Consider what your church looks like from the road and closer to. What is the first impression as the door is open? Simple refreshments are always welcome and don’t forget the dog bowl by the porch. Think about having prayer cards and space for people to reflect and pray. This resource also gives some pointers around welcoming people before and after services.
