Week of Prayer for Christian Unity 2027 Resources

Churches and Christian communities worldwide are invited to use the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity between 18th to the 25th January 2027, with resources to pray together for the unity among churches throughout the year and to come together around the theme ‘Do not be Afraid’.

This is a downloadable pdf for individuals, church leaders and groups to guide us through the week of prayer for Christian unity 18th to the 25th January 2027. With daily reflections, bible readings and prayers, along with a liturgy for an ecumenical service, these are helpful resources from Churches Together in Britain and Ireland and the World Council of Churches to feed our intercessions.

Therefore, I tell you do not worry about your life.

Luke 12:22

Theme

The Week of Prayer for Christian Unity is dedicated to the theme of ‘Do not be afraid’.

Jesus is our Good Shepherd, who lead us on the good path of life towards lifegiving waters of abundance. As the Good Shepherd, Jesus models sacrificial leadership that moves towards the one sheep that has lost its way and towards a life of radical trust, vigilant hope and responsible service.

We are part of a ‘little flock’ called to live, pray and work together. This year we explore what it means to be followers of the Good Shepherd: how letting go of fear and keeping watchful hearts become powerful catalysts for reconciliation and shared witness.

In the resources

Along with readings, prayers and reflections, you will find a helpful Order of Service. The daily reflections are based on these themes:

  • Day 1: The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want
  • Day 2: Out of the depths I cry to you, O Lord
  • Day 3: From where will my help come?
  • Day 4: The Lord surrounds his people
  • Day 5: The LORD Almighty is with us
  • Day 6: The Lord has done great things for us
  • Day 7: Let us go to the house of the Lord
  • Day 8: How very good and pleasant it is when kindred live together in unity!

Prayer

I bind unto myself today,
the power of God to hold and lead,
his eye to watch, his might to stay,
his ear to hearken to my need;

the wisdom of my God to teach,

his hand to guide, his shield to ward,
the word of God to give me speech
his heavenly host to be my guard.
